Agartala, July 29 (PTI): The Tripura government has made a strategic decision to establish a Special Task Force (STF) aimed at tackling organized crime, extremism, and drug-related issues, according to an official statement on Wednesday.
Home Secretary Abhishek Singh emphasized the significance of this step, stating that it will significantly bolster the state's security framework. "Chief Minister Manik Saha has given his approval for the creation of the STF, which will specifically address organized crime, fundamentalist activities, cross-border offenses, and drug smuggling," he noted.
The STF is slated to be led by an officer of SP rank, operating under the supervision of an IG or DIG. Singh highlighted that this unit will ensure the internal security of the state while facilitating quicker investigations to deliver speedy justice.
The STF is also expected to play a crucial role in combating cross-border crimes, Singh added. "The Chief Minister has made it clear that maintaining law and order and ensuring state security is a top priority for his administration. The STF is designed to meet all internal security challenges," he concluded.
