Agartala, Aug 5 (PTI) — The Tripura Congress has announced its plan to form a team of lawyers dedicated to offering legal assistance to vulnerable individuals whose rights face threats, according to the state’s Congress president, Asish Kumar Saha, on Tuesday.
Speaking with PTI, Saha noted that this decision is a result of a resolution adopted during the national legal conclave organized by the AICC's Department of Law and Human Rights on August 2 in New Delhi.
"The AICC's Department of Law and Human Rights has directed state party units to establish a legal team composed of legal professionals. The main objective is to provide support to individuals whenever there is a report of rights violations," stated Saha.
He confirmed that the state Congress is taking steps to soon establish a team of legal experts to aid those in need.
While in New Delhi, Saha met with Congress General Secretary Saptagiri Ulaka on Sunday to discuss the current political climate of the northeastern state.
"Organizational matters were also part of the discussions. Ulaka assured that he plans to visit the state following the current session of Parliament," Saha added.
