Shimla, Jun 26 (PTI) - In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 20-year-old woman allegedly took her own life by hanging herself at her residence in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, while streaming the event live on social media. According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Olgi village of the Shadiyana panchayat, close to the Subathu Cantonment, during the family's absence as they were out shopping.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Parwanoo, Mehar Panwar, reported that upon receiving notification of the suicide, a police team was dispatched immediately to the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the motives behind the young woman's actions. Before taking the drastic step, the woman reportedly stated on Facebook live that no one was to blame for her decision.

The live broadcast of the tragic act rapidly gained attention, causing a stir across the area. Police sources revealed that traders in Subathu market, upon viewing the video, notified the woman's mother and brother to return home right away. Unfortunately, the victim's mother was unreachable at the time as her phone was switched off. The distressing video remained online for an hour following the incident, police added.
