Thane, Sep 8 – In a tragic incident, a three-year-old girl has died, and four family members are hospitalised following alleged food poisoning in Thane district of Maharashtra, police reported on Monday.
The family consumed dinner on Sunday night at their residence in the Bhayander area when the unfortunate incident unfolded.
According to Senior Inspector Jitendra Kamble of the Bhayander police station, the father had purchased chicken, which was prepared and eaten alongside other dishes such as boiled eggs, rice, and vada pav.
Following the meal, the father’s wife, three daughters (aged 3, 8, and 6), and brother-in-law experienced symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
Tragically, the three-year-old daughter succumbed shortly after consuming the meal. Preliminary autopsy findings suggest food poisoning as the potential cause of death.
The authorities have collected food samples from the family's residence, which are currently undergoing analysis.
"We have filed a case of accidental death and are conducting an in-depth investigation," Inspector Kamble stated. "At this juncture, we do not suspect the chicken procured from the market to be the cause. The source may be elsewhere, but a definitive cause will only be ascertained with the pending chemical analysis report."
