Banda (UP), August 27: In a tragic incident at a primary school in Banda, a 10-year-old girl died after an alleged altercation with a classmate turned fatal, police reported on Wednesday.

The unfortunate event unfolded in Kumedha Sani village within the Kamasin police jurisdiction.

Identified as Gomti, the victim was a class 5 student, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shivraj.

ASP Shivraj detailed, "Gomti fainted after reportedly being pushed by a classmate during a dispute on Tuesday. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, she was declared dead upon arrival."

Authorities have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. The student accused of pushing Gomti has been detained for questioning, the officer confirmed.

Meanwhile, Gomti's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the precise cause of her untimely death.
