Kochi, August 26 (PTI) A 27-year-old resident of Thrissur was apprehended with more than four kilograms of hybrid cannabis at the international airport here on Tuesday.

The individual arrived from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur, and his luggage was inspected as part of the routine "profiling" conducted by Customs officials, an official mentioned.

The hybrid cannabis was discovered packed in four vacuum-sealed packets designed to prevent detection by smell, the official reported.

The individual has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing interrogation to determine if there were any accomplices involved in the drug trafficking activities, he added.

The accused has multiple pending criminal cases against him and had just returned from a brief one-week visit to Bangkok.

"His trip to Bangkok was to procure the drugs. The seized cannabis holds a value of over Rs 4 crore in the international market," the official stated.
