Thane, August 26 (PTI) - In a significant breakthrough, Thane police have solved a four-month-old burglary case with the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of stolen items worth Rs 7.3 lakh. Unidentified burglars had broken into a house in Kalyan's Waldhuni area on April 16 and escaped with gold and silver valuables totaling Rs 12.69 lakh. Following the crime, a case was promptly registered at Mahatma Phule Chowk Police Station. Police used CCTV footage from the vicinity that captured several suspects arriving at the crime scene on a scooter. Through sophisticated technical surveillance and insightful local intelligence, investigators tracked down Sajid Akbar Sheikh, aged 34, in Nalla Sopara, Palghar district, arresting him on August 8. The probe further unveiled the involvement of two others, Rishikesh Chaudhary and Preeti Kadam, in unloading the stolen valuables. While the main perpetrator remains at large, efforts are underway to arrest him promptly. Investigators have managed to retrieve gold and silver valuables worth Rs 7.3 lakh thus far.
