Guwahati, Sep 5: In a significant development, Assam's Tezpur University has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding with Russia's Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) to pursue collaborative research and explore areas of mutual interest.

The pivotal agreement, set to last for five years, was signed on Wednesday amidst the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok, as per an official release.

Established in 1899, FEFU stands as a leading public university based in Vladivostok. The university is renowned for its wide-ranging academic programs spanning medicine, engineering, humanities, and natural sciences.

This MoU outlines ambitious objectives, including the creation of joint dual degree programs focusing on construction and civil engineering. Additionally, it sets the stage for collaborative research in the spheres of construction, civil engineering, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

The partnership is expected to foster numerous activities such as field trips, student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, conferences, and cultural events.

Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, expressed optimism regarding the collaboration. He highlighted that exposure to diverse educational systems, research environments, and societal challenges would equip students with the agility to tackle complex global issues.
