In an alarming incident, thirteen individuals from the Kukatpally area were hospitalized after allegedly consuming adulterated toddy, health officials reported on Wednesday.

These individuals were initially admitted to various hospitals on Tuesday after experiencing symptoms of acute gastroenteritis. They were subsequently transferred to the state-run Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) for further treatment.

Reacting to the situation, Telangana Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha has directed health officials to ensure that those affected receive appropriate medical care at NIMS.

The patients reportedly fell ill after consuming toddy on Tuesday. The specific reasons for the illness linked to the "adulterated" toddy are still under investigation, with officials collecting samples for detailed analysis.
