Hyderabad, May 26 (PTI): Telangana Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha on Monday directed officials to vigilantly track the uptick in COVID-19 cases and ensure public awareness regarding necessary precautions.
Recent official data indicates that Telangana has seen a new COVID-19 case.
During a meeting focused on the COVID-19 situation, the minister engaged with health officials, scientific institution heads, and other experts from the city, instructing them to also monitor respiratory illnesses and diseases such as dengue and chikungunya.
According to a statement from the health minister's office, experts have evaluated existing data and ongoing research, concluding that the COVID-19 situation remains under control without posing any substantial public health threat at this time.
While some countries have recorded sporadic increases, hospitalisation rates continue to be negligible.
Experts highlighted that while it is crucial for individuals with comorbidities or weakened immunity to take appropriate precautions, there is no need for widespread concern among the general population.
They also noted that India has largely attained herd immunity, which is playing a significant role in stabilizing the current situation.
