Hyderabad, Sep 19 (PTI): A 30-year-old man from Telangana, reportedly shot dead by US police, had claimed he was subjected to "racial hatred and discrimination." Mohammed Nizamuddin from Mahabubnagar district tragically lost his life in the United States after allegedly being shot by the police following a "scuffle" with his roommate, according to his family on Thursday.

In a recent social media post, Nizamuddin expressed, “I have been a victim of racial hatred, racial discrimination, racial harassment, torture, wage-fraud, wrongful termination, and obstruction of Justice.” He asserted, “Today I decided to raise my voice against all odds... Oppression of corporate tyrants must end and everyone involved in it must be punished severely."

Nizamuddin's father, Mohammed Hasnuddin, informed PTI, based on a friend's account, that the incident occurred on September 3. However, the exact circumstances remain unclear.

According to a video released by Santa Clara police, they responded to a 911 emergency call concerning a disturbance between two roommates. Upon arrival, officers were informed the situation had escalated, with the suspect allegedly stabbing the victim and pinning him to the ground.

Santa Clara police chief Morgan stated in the video, “The officer attempted to deescalate the situation with verbal commands. But the suspect ignored the commands… When the officer saw the suspect’s hand holding a knife come down towards the victim, the officer shot four times.” The suspect was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Nizamuddin further alleged in his post that he had encountered hostility, an unacceptable environment, racial discrimination, and salary fraud at his workplace. He claimed, "They altogether wrongfully terminated my employment. It did not end there. They continued their harassment, discrimination and intimidating behavior with the help of a racist detective and team.”

He also mentioned that matters worsened recently with his food allegedly being poisoned and facing eviction for standing against "unjust" actions.

Nizamuddin's father has appealed to the Centre, urging the Embassy of India in Washington DC and the Consulate General of India in San Francisco to assist in repatriating his son's mortal remains to Mahabubnagar.

Meanwhile, Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan has called upon External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to support the grieving family in this matter.

Hasnuddin noted that his son had been working as a software professional in the US after completing his MS there.
