Nashik, Sep 3 (PTI) Police in Nashik have detained three minor boys in connection with the fatal assault on an unidentified man who allegedly harassed their female companion. According to officials, the boys reportedly attacked the man, who was estimated to be between 45 and 50 years old, with a paver block. The incident occurred on a footpath opposite a hotel in the Thakkar Bazaar area around 1.45 pm on Tuesday.

The man, who suffered serious injuries, later succumbed. Following the incident, local crime branch officials were informed and acted on a tip-off that pointed the whereabouts of the accused towards the Mela bus stand area.

Upon arriving at the location, a police team spotted three boys, aged 15 to 16, fleeing and subsequently took them into custody. The boys confessed during questioning that they attacked the man because he had teased a female friend of theirs. They hit the victim’s head with a cement paver block.

A case has been registered against the trio under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and actions taken by several persons with a common intention.
