Pune, June 30 (PTI): In a distressing incident on Monday in Daund, located in Maharashtra's Pune district, a 17-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted, and three women were robbed of their gold ornaments by two unidentified individuals, as reported by a police official.

The crime occurred at approximately 4:15 am near Bhigwan along the highway. The car was halted as the driver stepped out to attend to nature's call, according to the police report.

"While there were multiple people in the car, two unidentified men approached the vehicle brandishing sharp weapons. They proceeded to threaten the passengers, subsequently robbing three women of their gold jewelry. Additionally, one of the assailants allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl who was among the passengers," the official detailed.

Pune (Rural) Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill stated that multiple teams have been deployed to track down the accused. Meanwhile, the formal process of registering a case is in progress.
