2 more students are suspected to have died by suicide in Tamil Nadu raising concerns as 5 such deaths have been reported in the state in the past 2 weeks.

A Class XI girl student from Sivakasi was found hanging at her home on Tuesday, according to reports.

A police officer was quoted by NDTV as saying that they will not say anything about the matter till investigation is completed. No suicide note has been recovered yet.

A boy studying in class XII was also found hanging at his home in Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway, the police said adding that the boy's autopsy was completed and his body was handed back to his family.

On Monday, two cases of suspected deaths by suicide were reported from the coastal state. Both of them were class XII students.

The first of these 5 deaths was reported two weeks ago on July 13 in Kallakurichi district when a 17-year-old girl reportedly jumped to her death from her hostel.

Violent protests ensued after her death as her family claimed that the student was tortured by teachers for poor performance in school.

Voicing his concern over the rising number of student deaths, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday urged pupils to shun suicidal thoughts, asking them to instead turn their trials into accomplishments.

The Chief Minister further added that tough action would be taken against those involved in sexual, mental and physical harassment of students.
