Google CEO Sundar Pichai arrived in the national capital on Wednesday to attend the Global AI Impact Summit 2026, where he is scheduled to deliver the keynote address on February 20.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 16 to February 20. The summit has brought together government policymakers, AI industry experts, academicians, technology innovators and members of civil society from across the world to advance discussions on artificial intelligence.

In a special interview with ANI’s text service, the Prime Minister spoke about the growing impact of artificial intelligence on India’s IT sector and the government’s strategy to strengthen the industry.

“India's IT sector has been the backbone of our services exports and a key driver of economic growth. AI presents both a tremendous opportunity and a challenge for this sector. AI market projections show India's IT sector could reach $400 billion by 2030, driven by new waves of AI-enabled outsourcing and domain-specific automation,” he said.

The India AI Impact Summit is described as the first global AI summit to be hosted in the Global South. It aims to reflect on the transformative potential of AI, aligning with the national vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” (welfare for all, happiness for all) and the global principle of AI for Humanity.

According to organisers, the summit is witnessing participation from more than 110 countries and 30 international organisations, including around 20 Heads of State or Government and about 45 ministers.

The summit forms part of a broader international effort to strengthen global cooperation on AI governance, safety and its societal impact.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is guided by three foundational pillars — People, Planet and Progress — which aim to promote human-centric AI that safeguards rights, ensures equitable benefits, advances environmental sustainability and supports inclusive economic and technological growth.
