According to the new National Credit Framework released on 11 April 2023, students can now earn credit points for expertise in various aspects of Hindu religious books like the Vedas and the Puranas.
The credit framework was announced by the University Grants Commission.
The draft framework for bringing school education under a credit system was released in October 2022, but had not mentioned the Indian knowledge system, as per news agency PTI.
