Special judge hearing Delhi liquor excise scam transferred

Special court judge MK Nagpal, who was presiding over cases related to the Delhi excise policy scam, has been transferred with immediate effect.

According to the Bar and Bench outlet, Judge Nagpal will now serve as the District Judge in Tis Hazari Court.

Judge Kaveri Baweja will now replace Nagpal, who has been hearing the liquor policy scam since its inception.

Notably, several politicians have been arrested in the case including, Delhi's former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana's former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

According to the transfer posting list issued by the Delhi High Court, a total of 27 judges, including Nagpal, of the Delhi Higher Judicial Services have been transferred, reported Bar and Bench.

Meanwhile, 31 judges of the Delhi Judicial Services (DJS) have also been transferred.
