Jaipur, Dec 3 (PTI) An army soldier tragically lost his life during a routine military exercise at the Indira Gandhi Canal in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district, police reported on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning. Two soldiers were inside the tank when the mishap took place. While one soldier successfully evacuated, the other remained trapped. The body was recovered after several hours of concerted efforts, police officials stated. According to the police, the tank was part of a routine training exercise that involved armored vehicles crossing the canal. Unfortunately, the tank became stuck mid-crossing and began to sink. As the situation unfolded, one soldier managed to escape while the other did not. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police, along with teams from the State Disaster Response Force and civil defence, promptly rushed to the site and successfully retrieved the body of the deceased soldier. The police mentioned that a postmortem examination was scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday.
