New Delhi, Jun 25 (PTI) President Droupadi Murmu expressed the nation's excitement and pride in Indian astronaut Subhanshu Shukla's groundbreaking journey to the stars as part of the Axiom-4 mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

President Murmu highlighted that the diverse experiments to be conducted by the mission crew will usher in new horizons in scientific research and space exploration.

"With Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla marking a new milestone for India in space, the entire nation feels a sense of pride and excitement about an Indian venturing into the stars. Shukla, alongside his fellow astronauts from the United States, Poland, and Hungary, exemplifies the idea that the world is one family – ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’," the president posted on X.

She extended her best wishes for the mission's success, underscoring the enduring collaboration between NASA and ISRO. President Murmu emphasized the significance of the experiments the crew will perform, foreseeing advancements in scientific research and space exploration as a result.

Shukla made history by joining three other astronauts on a journey to the ISS as part of a commercial mission led by Axiom Space this Wednesday.

The long-anticipated Axiom-4 mission launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, at 12:01 pm Indian Standard Time (IST). The event was celebrated with watch parties around the globe, including at Shukla's alma mater, City Montessori School in Lucknow, where his parents watched the historic launch.
