Aizawl, Jun 24 (PTI) - Sharad Agarwal, a 1997-batch IPS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre, has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Mizoram, officials announced.
He takes over from Anil Shukla, a 1996-batch IPS officer, who has been reassigned to Delhi.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued appointment and transfer orders for Agarwal and Shukla on Monday.
Agarwal is currently serving as a special commissioner with the Delhi Police in the Economic Offences Wing.
The transfer order for Shukla specifies his relocation to Delhi, though his new responsibilities have not been detailed.
Shukla assumed the role of DGP in Mizoram in June 2023, succeeding Devesh Chandra Srivastava, a 1995-batch IPS officer.
Previously, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma had requested the Centre to consider appointing David Lalrinsanga, a 1995-batch IPS officer, as the state's DGP.
