New Delhi, Jul 1 (PTI) — In a historic move, the Supreme Court has implemented a formal reservation policy for the direct appointment and promotion of staff members from scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST). This significant policy change was communicated through a circular issued on June 24 to all employees of the Supreme Court.

According to the circular, the Model Reservation Roster and Register have been uploaded on the Supnet, the court's internal email network, and will be effective from June 23, 2025. Employees have been informed that if they have any objections or notice inaccuracies within the roster or register, they should report these concerns to the Registrar (Recruitment).

The new reservation policy stipulates that SC employees will receive a 15 per cent quota and ST employees a 7.5 per cent quota in promotions. The policy ensures that these quota benefits extend to various positions including registrars, senior personal assistants, assistant librarians, junior court assistants, and chamber attendants.
