Nagpur, Aug 15 (PTI) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Rajesh Loya marked the 79th Independence Day by hoisting the national flag at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, an event held on Friday. Some RSS volunteers and pracharaks attended the ceremony, which took place in the Mahal area of the city. Sangh functionaries noted that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was not present in the city, while Loya, who serves as the Nagpur Mahanagar sanghchalak, presided over the celebration.
In his address, Loya acknowledged the contributions of those who fought for India's independence. He commended the Indian Armed Forces for their defensive prowess, stating they responded effectively whenever the nation was threatened after independence. Loya highlighted that the world witnessed India's triumph over its adversaries using its resources, attributing this success to the awakening of national pride, or 'swabhiman', in recent years. "We are becoming self-reliant and awakening our ‘Swa’," he remarked.
He emphasized that this awakening begins with language. "Our language should be ours—our local tongue, our ‘matrubhasha’. It should predominantly be Hindi, given its widespread use. While we don't oppose foreign languages, their use should be limited to general interaction," he said.
Furthermore, he stated that the language of the state we reside in must be respected and learned, as language serves as a unifying force.
The RSS has also organized an Independence Day program at Dr. Hedgewar Smarak Samiti in the Reshimbagh area, featuring Wing Commander Dr. Tushar Jhanzjade (Retd) as the chief guest, according to Sangh officials.
