Palghar, October 21 (PTI): Police have successfully seized drugs worth Rs 53 lakh in two separate operations across Maharashtra’s Palghar and Thane districts, leading to the arrest of two individuals. The operations were carried out following a tip-off, according to officials on Tuesday.

In the first operation on October 18, police raided a residence in the Vasai area of Palghar, where they recovered 1.088 kg of charas valued at Rs 16.37 lakh. The occupant, identified as 70-year-old Irfan Suleman Khatri, was taken into custody, as per a police release.

During interrogation, Khatri revealed that he had sourced the narcotics from an individual residing in Bhiwandi, Thane. This information led law enforcement to the residence of 25-year-old Tarbez Amin Mian Khan in Thane, where they seized 1.386 kg of charas and 1.05 kg of ganja, collectively estimated to be worth Rs 37,51,080.

Khan was arrested following the raid, the report stated. An FIR has been lodged against both accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. PTAI COR GK
