RJD MP Manoj Jha argued that the language of the entire discussion around giving reservation to women in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas seems to be based on pity. He said that rights can never be given as pity.

Speaking on the women's reservation bill in the Rajya Sabha, Jha said that it was unfair to exclude OBC from the bill.

'We often don't see our privileges. My surname is a privilege, Neeraj's surname is a privilege. Our surname has given us privilege. Look at the surnames that don't have privilege. There is nothing in a name but everything in a surname,' he said.
