Around 150 medical colleges of the country may lose the National Medical Commission's recognition for inadequate faculty and non-compliance with rules, NDTV reported citing sources.

40 medical colleges already have lost recognition and must show to the NMC that they are following set standards, it added.

Medical colleges in Gujarat, Assam, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura and West Bengal are reportedly under NMC's radar.

NMC is the regulatory body for the country's medical education and medical professionals
