Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to discuss several key infrastructure projects in Hyderabad. Reddy emphasized the need for federal approval and funding for these initiatives, highlighting their importance for the city’s growth and development. During the meeting, Reddy criticized the previous government for neglecting the expansion of the Hyderabad metro rail. He outlined plans for a second phase, featuring a 76.4 km stretch over five corridors, with an estimated cost of Rs 24,269 crore, and pressed for swift approval of the project. Acknowledging Telangana's landlocked geography, Reddy proposed the establishment of a Dry Port near Hyderabad's Regional Ring Road. This facility aims to enhance the state’s export and import capabilities. He also suggested the development of a greenfield road and rail line to connect the Dry Port to a seaport, facilitating greater economic connectivity. Reddy sought a significant federal grant of Rs 20,000 crore for the redevelopment of the Musi river, an ambitious project featuring memorial sites, sewage treatment plants, retaining walls, and linkages to the Godavari river. The project also includes the enhancement of Bapu Ghat, a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. Further, Reddy urged the PM to support the India Semiconductor Mission Project in Telangana, citing the state’s robust ecosystem as an ideal environment for high-tech investments. The Chief Minister also called for the approval of the southern section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) in Hyderabad, noting that 90 percent of land acquisition in the northern section is already complete. He emphasized that the RRR’s full potential would be realized only if both segments are developed concurrently. Additionally, Reddy proposed a parallel Regional Ring Rail project aimed at bolstering railway connectivity across Telangana and its neighboring states, positioning Hyderabad as a pivotal hub in the region.
