Kochi, Jul 31 (PTI) A well-known Malayalam rapper, Vedan, also identified as Hirandas Murali, is facing serious allegations after a complaint by a lady doctor accused him of sexual assault on multiple occasions from 2021 to 2023 at different locations within the state, according to police sources on Thursday.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the rapper at the Thrikkakara police station late Wednesday, confirmed a senior police official.
Vedan has previously been embroiled in legal troubles.
He was arrested earlier this year in April for a drug-related case but was subsequently released on bail.
Not long after, he faced another arrest, again released on bail, by the Forest Department concerning the possession of a leopard tooth.
Adding to his legal woes, a BJP leader lodged a complaint against him in May this year, accusing him of defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and allegedly fostering caste-based divisions through his music.
