Hyderabad, July 1 (PTI): N Ramchander Rao, a former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and a seasoned advocate affiliated with the ABVP, has been announced as the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana.
He takes over the position from Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, serving as the returning officer for the election, presented the appointment letter to Rao.
"I declare that Ramachander Rao was unanimously elected as Telangana BJP president," Karandlaje stated during a function held in the city.
Senior BJP leaders, including Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, extended their congratulations to Rao.
The appointment of Rao is perceived as a strategic move to bolster the party's ideological and organisational framework in Telangana.
Notably, Rao was the sole candidate who filed his nomination for the state unit president post, and his election was officially announced today.
