Jaipur, Jun 30 (PTI) The Rajasthan government has appointed senior IPS officer Rajeev Kumar Sharma as the new Director General of Police on Monday. He takes over from Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, who recently retired and subsequently assumed the role of Chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). After Sahoo's retirement, Ravi Prakash Mehrada, the current DGP of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), was handling the additional responsibilities of the state's DGP. Sharma, who is currently serving as the Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development, New Delhi, is a reputed senior IPS officer from the state cadre. Previously, he was the DGP of Rajasthan's Anti-Corruption Bureau. Hailing from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, Sharma brings extensive experience in policing and administration. In 2014, he was honored with the President's Police Medal.
