Jaipur, Aug 18 (PTI) - In a tragic and mysterious development, the body of a man was discovered stuffed in a drum placed on the rooftop of a house in Rajasthan's Khairthal-Tijara district. The man's wife, their three children, and the landlord's son are reported missing, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Hansram, also known as Suraj, originally from Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. He had been residing in Adarsh Colony of Kishangarhbas along with his family for about one and a half months.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh Nirwan, the body was discovered following complaints from neighbors about a foul smell. The body bore a throat injury caused by a sharp weapon.

In an attempt to expedite decomposition, salt had been sprinkled over the body, Nirwan revealed. Hansram, who worked at a brick kiln, lived in a rented rooftop room.

The police stated that Hansram's wife, Sunita, their children, and the landlord's son, Jitendra, have been missing since Saturday. Furthermore, it was noted that Hansram had a liquor addiction and often drank with Jitendra.

Both Jitendra and Hansram’s family have been untraceable since Saturday evening, according to the DSP. Authorities have launched a search operation to locate the missing individuals.

Meanwhile, the body has been sent for a postmortem, and a case has been registered.
