Punjab Vidhan Sabha pays tribute to late leaders and freedom fighters

The Punjab Vidhan Sabha, on the first day of its 7th session on Monday, paid heartfelt tributes to several eminent personalities, including political leaders, freedom fighters, and a renowned artist, who passed away recently. 

Obituary resolutions were passed in their honor, with members observing a two-minute silence as a mark of respect.

The House paid tribute to MLA Gurpreet Singh Bassi (Goggi), Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, former ministers Dharam Pal Sabharwal and Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur, former Rajya Sabha MP Harwinder Singh Hanspal, and former MLAs Joginder Pal Jain, Sukhwinder Singh Butter, and Bhag Singh.

Additionally, the House remembered freedom fighters Karnail Singh, Kikkar Singh, and Kehar Singh.

Tributes were also paid to renowned artist Jarnail Singh, Raikot MLA Hakam Singh’s wife Jaspal Kaur, and Nabha MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Mann’s father Lal Singh.

As a mark of respect, a two-minute silence was observed in memory of the departed souls.

Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan proposed that homage be paid to all members who had passed away since the last session. Following the obituary references, he passed a resolution to convey the condolences of the House to the families of the deceased.

On the request of Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, the name of late Justice Kuldeep Singh was also added to the obituary list.
