In a move to enhance policing efficiency and accountability, Punjab Police has introduced a tenure limit for MHCs (Munshis), restricting their service at any single police station or unit to a maximum of two years.
This decision aligns with the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to streamline police administration.
Issuing the directive on Monday, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, stated, “In order to ensure accountability, improve policing efficiency and enhance professional development across the force, it is hereby ordered that the tenure of MHCs assigned to a specific police station or unit shall not exceed a period of two years at one location.”
The order further mandates that once the two-year tenure is completed, the officer must be transferred to a different station or unit. Immediate implementation and strict compliance with this directive have been emphasized, with any violation subject to disciplinary action.
DGP Gaurav Yadav highlighted that this measure is purely administrative and aimed at fostering a more dynamic and responsive policing system.
