Punjab Police bust international drug syndicate, arrest 3 smugglers

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has busted an international drug syndicate, seizing 48 kilograms of heroin, marking the largest heroin seizure of 2024. According to the police, the syndicate was actively involved in cross-border and international drug trafficking, operating in 5 countries: Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Canada. Additionally, it had domestic networks in two states, Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat.

It further said that an illegal amount of ₹21 lakhs, along with a cash counting machine and three expensive cars were confiscated from the smugglers

FIRs have been filed under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to dismantle the drug network. Interrogations of the arrested smugglers are ongoing, with expectations of significant revelations.
