Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the virtual foundation stone of the PGI Satellite Center in Ferozepur on February 25 from Rajkot, Gujarat, said BJP National Executive Member, Rana Sodhi.

Added here, this project is pending for the last ten years which was approved by the then government.  Prime Minister Modi was coming to Ferozepur on January 5, 2022, especially to lay the foundation stone of PGI and to give projects worth crores in Punjab, but his convoy was blocked by the protesters and he had to wait for 20 minutes on the flyover 5 km ahead of Ferozepur for which certain officers are facing inquiry for breach of security.

Later, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had planned to lay the foundation stone of this project, which was sanctioned in 2013. However, twice his visit had to be cancelled for one reason or the other.

Rana Sodhi said that had the foundation stone laid at that time, the PGI would have been ready by now and the OPD would have started.

Sodhi said that he was in constant touch with the PGI team and the Union Cabinet along with Health Ministry officials with special stress on the point that the people of the border districts were in special need of PGI. He has also continuously met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for PGI.  Now he will also demand the Prime Minister and Health Minister to build a medical college.
