Punjab minister Kataruchak underscores transparent approach in doorstep ration scheme

The Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's leadership, has unveiled the Ghar Ghar Muft Ration Scheme, highlighting a commitment to transparency. The initiative ensures the doorstep delivery of packaged wheat/atta to beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act, 2013, through Model Fair Price Shops.

In a meeting at Anaj Bhawan, Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak underscored the importance of maintaining transparency in the scheme. He stated that any discrepancies would not be tolerated, emphasizing the need for ground-level feedback for the scheme's success.

With 627 operational Model Fair Price Shops across the state and over 6.36 lakh beneficiary families connected to these shops, the minister was briefed on the significant progress. Jalandhar District currently leads in distribution efforts.

To expedite wheat distribution, the department has acquired an additional 2000 E-PoS machines, targeting the completion of wheat distribution by March 31st this year. The meeting included the presence of department Director Puneet Goyal and Additional Director Dr. Anjuman Bhaskar.
