Punjab Power and Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO announced that since April 2022, a total of 6,586 recruitments have been completed across Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL). The minister also revealed that 4,864 additional recruitments are planned for the 2025-26 fiscal year to further strengthen the power sector.
Strengthening the Workforce for Reliable Power Supply
At a ceremony where he handed out appointment letters to 35 newly recruited Assistant Engineers, Harbhajan Singh ETO detailed the breakdown of past recruitments:
4,444 youth recruited in PSPCL
782 appointments made in PSTCL through direct hiring
1,360 recruited on compassionate grounds
He emphasized that the goal of these recruitments is to generate employment opportunities for Punjab’s youth while ensuring a strong workforce to maintain uninterrupted electricity services.
New Recruits Set to Drive Punjab’s Power Sector Forward
Among the 35 newly appointed Assistant Engineers, 22 specialize in Electronics and Communication, while 13 are Electrical engineers. Minister Harbhajan Singh personally interacted with each recruit, inquiring about their educational background and career aspirations within the department. Congratulating the new engineers, he encouraged them to serve with dedication and contribute to the state’s energy infrastructure.
Commitment to Job Creation & Improved Services
Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to youth employment, the minister highlighted that over 50,000 jobs have been created since March 2022 under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership. He assured that the government remains focused on enhancing employment opportunities, improving power infrastructure, and ensuring the best electricity services for the people of Punjab.
