In a decisive move to eradicate drug abuse from Punjab, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is set to launch an intensive crackdown on drugs in the coming days.

A government spokesperson revealed that Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, following the Chief Minister’s directives, has issued strict instructions to all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across the state.

In an official letter, the Chief Secretary has urged DCs to take immediate and effective measures to eliminate drugs from their respective districts.

KAP Sinha has instructed DCs to ensure that rehabilitation and drug de-addiction centers are well-equipped with essential resources, including Buprenorphine medicine, testing kits, and adequate medical staff.

The Chief Secretary has emphasized that preparations must be made on a war footing, with each DC responsible for developing a foolproof strategy. He warned that any negligence in implementing these measures would lead to strict disciplinary action. The Chief Secretary will personally oversee the entire process to ensure its effectiveness.

Additionally, IAS Officer Sandeep Kumar has been assigned to inspect all de-addiction centers and directly report any shortcomings, reinforcing the government's commitment to making Punjab drug-free.
