Reaffirming its dedication to the welfare of soldiers and their families, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has disbursed ₹10,97,50,000/- as ex gratia to the dependents of 21 soldiers.
This includes 12 martyrs and 9 soldiers who were disabled in the line of duty. Punjab Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat shared this information.
Minister Mohinder Bhagat highlighted Punjab’s significant role in national defense, emphasizing the unwavering contributions of its youth to the armed forces.
He acknowledged the exceptional bravery of Punjabi soldiers in various battles, stating, "The Punjab Government stands firmly with the dependents of these martyrs, ensuring they receive due recognition and financial support."
He further pointed out that many soldiers retire at a young age and require resettlement opportunities. In addition to them, war widows, disabled soldiers, and destitute veterans of world wars also need assistance.
The Department of Defence Services Welfare, Punjab, is actively engaged in their rehabilitation through training, re-employment, and self-employment programs.
Reiterating the state’s commitment, he stated, "The Punjab Government remains steadfast in its duty to honor the sacrifices of its brave soldiers and will continue to support their dependents in every possible way."
