The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken a significant step to support disabled soldiers from the Defence Services and Paramilitary Forces by approving a substantial increase in ex-gratia financial assistance for those injured in the line of duty during war or operations.

Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat highlighted that the revised policy has doubled the ex-gratia financial assistance, offering greater financial security to affected personnel.

"As per the new provisions, soldiers with 76% to 100% disability will now receive ₹40 lakh, up from the previous ₹20 lakh. Similarly, those with 51% to 75% disability will receive ₹20 lakh instead of ₹10 lakh, while soldiers with 25% to 50% disability will now get ₹10 lakh, compared to the earlier ₹5 lakh."

Minister Bhagat reiterated the Punjab Government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Defence Services and Paramilitary Forces personnel, emphasizing that their sacrifices will continue to be acknowledged and supported through progressive policies.
