Punjab has become the first Indian state to comprehensively map all 784 accident-prone areas, known as 'black spots', on the navigation system Mappls App.

The initiative, part of the 'Sadak Surakhia Force' project, is a collaborative effort between Punjab Police and MapMyIndia.

Announced by DGP Gaurav Yadav, the app provides voice alerts in Punjabi, warning commuters of upcoming black spots.

With the message “Blackspot 100 meter di doori te hai” (Black Spot is 100 meters ahead), this move aims to enhance road safety by alerting drivers in advance, using Mappls App - a 100% indigenous app tailored for Indian roads.
