An auto-rickshaw driver, Vijay Kumar, was arrested for the murder of Arjuna awardee DSP Dalbir Singh, whose body was found near a canal in Jalandhar.
The incident occurred after Singh left his house with acquaintances and took Kumar's auto from a bus stand.
The DSP's body, with multiple injuries and a bullet in the head, was discovered by passers-by.
The accused, a drug addict and ex-rehab patient, allegedly shot Singh following a scuffle.
