Former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal shared a picture on April 14 claiming that a patient and a corpse were allegedly lying on the same bed in Ludhiana Civil Hospital.

Badal criticised the Aam Admi Party’s government in Punjab and called its “achievements” in the healthcare sector “cheap tamashas”.

“A picture tells a thousand words. This picture - of a patient and a corpse lying on the same bed at the Ludhiana Civil Hospital is a true reflection of health services in Punjab under Aam Aadmi Party rule. All this has come about because chief minister @BhagwantMann believes in doing cheap tamashas to advertise the so-called @AamAadmiParty govt “achievements” in the health sector even as the stark reality is there for all to see,” he wrote on X.

A patient, who was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital, died and his body was kept lying on a shared bed with another patient. The patients were sharing the same bed due to the shortage of resources at the hospital.

Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney has asked for a report from the healthcare department.
