Day after receiving massive backlash over his 'Poonch Stuntbaazi' remark, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanajit Singh Channi has issued a new statement, moving away from the earlier one.

In a video message, Channi, backtracking from his comment, has now said that 'we are proud of our jawans protecting the country', adding that his earlier message was misunderstood.

The Punjab Congress leader further said that he aimed to highlight the failure of the government that could not name or unveil the people behind Poonch terror attack that took place in 2019 which is why another similar attack took place on May 5.

Notably, Channi on Sunday called the Poonch terror attack in which an IAF soldier was killed and four were injured, a "stunt" meant to make the BJP win the Lok Sabha elections.
