BSF recovers one packet of suspected heroin in Punjab's Amritsar

Border Security Force recovered one packet of suspected heroin during an extensive search operation near village Roranwala Khurd in Punjab's Amritsar district, officials said on Monday.

On February 19, acting on specific intelligence received by BSF regarding the presence of a suspected packet in the border area of district Amritsar, troops promptly initiated an extensive search operation, BSF's Public Relations Officer said in a statement.

"During the search, at about 12:15 pm, the vigilant troops of BSF successfully retrieved 1 packet of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 700 grams. The packet was found with a steel hook attached to it and wrapped with yellow adhesive tape, which was partially burnt. This recovery occurred in a farming field of village Roranwala Khurd in Amritsar District," the PRO statement added.
