Punjab enhances healthcare for Anganwadi workers with Ayushman cards

Taking a significant step towards ensuring healthcare facilities for frontline workers, Punjab’s Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur, today informed that under a special drive launched by the department, 56.26% of Anganwadi Workers and 46.15% of Anganwadi Helpers in the state have been issued Ayushman Health Cards.

Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that this long-pending demand has been a priority for the department, and significant progress has been made in this direction. She informed that the eKYC process for 99% of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers has already been completed, and the remaining cards will also be issued soon.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, the Cabinet Minister mentioned that under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, each card holder will be entitled to free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh annually at empanelled hospitals across the country.

Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, towards public welfare, Dr. Baljit Kaur affirmed that the state government is continuously working towards the well-being of every section of society and striving to build a prosperous and vibrant Punjab.
