Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Election Commission of India has made significant changes by transferring non-cadre District Magistrates (DMs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) in four states including Punjab.
In these four states, namely Punjab, Gujarat, Odisha, and West Bengal, orders have been issued for the transfer of non-cadre officers to leadership positions as District DMs and SPs.
According to the orders, transfers of SSPs have been issued in five districts of Punjab including Bathinda, Pathankot, Fazilka, Malerkotla, and Jalandhar Rural. It is being said that due to the involvement of officers closely related to leaders in election activities, the Election Commission has taken this decision.
