The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Palwinder Singh, a Building Inspector with the Municipal Corporation of Bathinda, and Honey Munjal, an architect, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹30,000.

According to an official spokesperson, the arrests followed a complaint lodged by Sandeep Singh, a resident of Burj Mehma village in Bathinda district. The complainant alleged that Palwinder Singh had demanded ₹30,000 per file through the private architect for approving plans related to a new colony being developed in Bathinda. The inspector reportedly demanded ₹80,000 for three cases, threatening to raise objections if the bribe was not paid.

After verifying the complaint, the VB’s Bathinda unit set a trap and caught Honey Munjal red-handed while accepting ₹30,000 in bribe under the presence of two official witnesses. The team subsequently arrested Palwinder Singh.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

A case has been registered against the duo under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station in the Bathinda range. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, as the VB intensifies its anti-corruption drive across the state.
