Imagine building your dream house and then being told it needs to be demolished.

That is exactly what happened to a farmer from Sangrur. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi spent Rs 1.5 crore to build a 2-storey house but now is being forced to move it 500 feet from its current site to facilitate the construction of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway.

Yes, you read it right. He is physically moving his house 500 feet.

Sukhi said that he had been offered compensation by the govt but he did not want to demolish the house and build a new one as it would cost more than having the house physically moved.

The construction of the house started in 2017 and it was completed in 2019.

Videos of the house relocation show the structure raised from the foundation using heavy lifting gears and wheels.

Sukhi said the house has been moved back 250 feet till now.
