Chandigarh, Sep 2 (PTI): Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria conducted a meeting this Tuesday with Ferozepur district officials to assess the flooding situation in the border district, according to reports.
This visit marks the start of Kataria's tour of flood-affected districts, beginning in Ferozepur. During the meeting, he focused on ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts for families impacted by the floods and instructed officials to provide timely help and ensure seamless coordination across all affected areas.
Present at the meeting were Ferozepur Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh.
Later today, Kataria is expected to visit Tarn Taran, and tomorrow, September 3, he will proceed to Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot. On the following day, he will visit Hoshiarpur and Sri Anandpur Sahib, according to officials.
The heavy rains in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir led to the overflowing of the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, as well as seasonal rivulets, causing widespread flooding in Punjab.
The floods have affected a total of 12 districts, including Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, and Amritsar.
