In a decisive move to curb absenteeism among officials and ease public inconvenience, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has mandated that Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars maintain a presence in their offices from 9 am until evening hours. This decision aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of tehsil offices, which are crucial for public services. Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Hardip Singh Mundian emphasized this directive while instructing deputy commissioners to ensure the consistent presence of officers in their respective tehsils. Additionally, the attendance of Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, and Sub Registrars is now to be systematically recorded using the M-Seva app, with all offices required to provide their GPS locations to the Revenue Department, facilitating accurate monitoring. Minister Mundian highlighted the need for alternative arrangements at locations lacking sufficient staff, ensuring that workflow remains uninterrupted and public service is not hampered. He reiterated that individuals who schedule appointments online for registrations must have their documents processed without delay, on the very day of their appointment. In a parallel effort to bolster compliance, Financial Commissioner Revenue Anurag Verma has dispatched a directive to all Deputy Commissioners, underscoring the necessity for adherence to these new instructions. The overarching goal of these measures, as elaborated by Verma, is to streamline property registration processes and eliminate obstacles for the general public.
